Turned from a crotch piece Laburnum log, taken from where the main trunk forks into multiple branches. In this case three , shown as"eyes" in this finished bowl.
Bark inclusions show where the forks formed into individual branches , and here have been filled with brass to emphasise and make them into a contrasting feature.
The other feature common to Laburnum is the contrast between the pale sap wood and dark heart wood.
Prominent growth rings can be counted to give the age of the tree ,in this case about 30 years.
