Natural edge Buckthorn bowl.14 cm W x 9 cm H.
Turned from a forked stem of Common Buckthorn, this bowl shows the eye where the branch originated, together with the typical colouring of this species.
Naturally occuring flaws in the wood have been inlaid with brass , similar to the Japanese technique of Kintsugi, whereby a piece is enhanced by the addition of metal ,often to man made cracks. Treating this as part of the history of the piece, rather than something to be disguised.
This species is also host plant to the Brimstone butterfly.
