Natural edge Spalted Silver Birch.
Turned from a small log of Spalted Silver Birch, left on the ground after some trees were thinned.
Spalting describes the markings in the wood , caused by soil borne fungi infecting the dead wood on the ground , thus beginning the process of decay. If caught at the right time all the wonderful markings can be frozen in time before the wood becomes unworkable. Once turned no further deterioration occurs and Nature's Paintbrush remains.
